Andrew MacLean is a recent example of an artist funding their own comic book project through crowd-funding. The first two Kickstarter editions are included in the over-sized first issue of Head Lopper, published quarterly by Image Comics. Issue 3(of 4) recently came out and I was happy to hear from MacLean that the series has been renewed and he has no intention of ending the saga of Norgal and his bodiless antagonist, Agatha Blue Witch, anytime soon.
In addition to Head Lopper, MacLean is also responsible for the critically acclaimed graphic novel, Apocalyptigirl: An Aria for the End Times(Dark Horse, 2015), about a girl and her cat, Jelly Beans, scouring a desolate, overgrown city for an ancient relic of unimaginable power!
