The 2017 Illustrator’s Survey by Ben the Illustrator

Hey Illustrators!

If you’re like most creative professionals, you probably spend plenty of time wondering about how your experiences match up to those of your peers in the industry. That’s why so many freelance illustrators dive deep into resources like podcasts, interviews and blogs. It can be a truly inspiring and educational experience.

This week we’d like to highlight the efforts of Ben the Illustrator in creating his 2017 Illustrator’s Survey, which he has recently published the results of on his website.

In his beautifully illustrated summary of the responses he received from 1,261 Illustrators, you’ll find information on such things as creative process, schooling, work environment, promotion and lots more. While 1,261 responses don’t represent the entire industry by a long shot, it is certainly an interesting snapshot of how many other creative professionals experienced 2017 and for that reason it’s worth a look.

Same as it ever was! Not being paid enough or on time…that is our field. We haven’t changed much in the 38 years I have been freelancing! But the positive outlook and groovy visuals make it all delicious. I wouldn’t do anything else but illustrate! thanks to ben and to Thomas James.

You actually make it appear so easy along with your presentation however I find this matter to be actually something which I think I would by no means understand. It sort of feels too complex and extremely wide for me. I am taking a look forward for your next post, I will attempt to get the hold of it!
