Kevin Nowlan is one of the most respected mainstream(super-heroes) comics artists to come out of the 1980’s. Mostly a self-taught artist, Nowlan is known for his excellent finishes(i.e. inking over other artist’s pencils/roughs) and his dynamic cover illustrations.
Recently, Nowlan has been getting back to his comic book roots, illustrating covers for Marvel’s Doctor Strange, the latest issue Vol. 4 #11 hits stands this week(top image). He started off his professional career drawing the same character with Doctor Strange Vol. 1 #57 back in 1983.
With the new Benedict Cumberbatch Doctor Strange movie coming out, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mr. Nowlan acquired a great number of new fans in the coming months, which will be great to see and much deserved!
Additional credits: Amazing Heroes, Penthouse Comix, Batman: The Animated Series, The Comics Journal, Jack B. Quick, Sandman, The Infernal Man-Thing, and many, many more!
