Piotr Kowalski has been drawing delectably horrific comics for over 15 years now, mostly in Europe, but increasingly for the American market of late. Based out of Belgium, the artist had this to say about the differences between American and European comics, “Funny, European comic market is very different from American comic market, not only in terms of story narration but also less dynamic, less action-packed, more dialogue-oriented”. Well, I think, as evidenced by the work above, Kowalski has succeeded at adjusting his illustration style to a different audience and his career is flourishing because of it!
The Steam Man collected book hits shelves this week from Dark Horse Comics and Kowalski continues to draw the ongoing Image series Sex, written by Joe Casey.
Additional credits: Urban Vampires, Malignant Man, Badlands, Robocop, Clive Barker’s Nightbreed, Terminal Hero, and Marvel’s Dark Tower series.
*Note: many of the pieces above were colored by other artists, including the painted Steam Man covers by Aurore Folny.
