This week’s featured artist, Jacob Chabot, is new to me, because I generally don’t pay too close attention to big franchise tie-ins or kids comics, but after seeing his most recent cover to SpongeBob Comics(top), and digging deeper into his portfolio, I’m now officially a fan! Since I really like his X-Babies prints, which lovingly swipe classic X-Men covers, I’ll probably hunt down his X-Babies series from 2009 first and go from there.
Another book to check out by Chabot, is his creator-owned series, The Mighty Skullboy Army Volume 1 & 2, which follows the title character along with a colorful supporting cast, including weird robots, criminally insane turnips, and a dubious “helping” monkey!
Additional work by Chabot includes more SpongeBob Comics(including covers), Voltron Force, Hello Kitty, Uglydoll: Eat Dat!, Plants vs. Zombies, and an upcoming writing gig on the new Marvel Tsum Tsum limited series.

*note: SpongeBob Comics #56 came out a month ago, but still available at comics shops, if anyone’s interested.
