Veronica Fish gets the spotlight this week for illustrating such a whimsical variant cover to Over the Garden Wall Vol. 2 #1(top).  Fish is the current artist on the All-New Archie, which has received critical acclaim for bringing the title character, along with Betty, Veronica & Jughead, into the 21st Century in a stylish and sophisticated way.  This new comic is also helping to pave the way for a new Archie TV series on the CW, titled Riverdale(after the town the characters live in).  In addition to Archie Comics, Fish has also done work for Marvel on titles such as Howard the Duck and Silk.
Most of Veronica Fish’s mainstream comics work has come in the last couple of years, but she was already an accomplished freelance artist, before that. Â Her paintings have been featured in numerous art shows around the country, her illustrations published in magazines, and she’s worked on various storyboard projects, as well as some independently produced comic books.
One of the coolest things Fish has done, in my opinion, are those head silhouette paintings, where she illustrates a whole scene into the character’s head.  Now, I need to track down that Howard the Duck variant!
