Mirror #1, which hits stands this week, features art by our guest of honor, Hwei Lim. The story of Mirror is described as “a terrorist talking dog, an idealist mage, and a heroic lab rat on their quest for acceptance”. Emma Rios(who was previously featured here) is co-creator & writer of Mirror and from reading her previous work, I think that Hwei Lim is a perfect creative match for her.
Lim has quietly built an impressive catalog of work over the last 5+ years. It’s great to see a talent like her getting more exposure through Mirror, which was originally slated as part of Brandon Graham’s 8HOUSE project. Now, it’s getting it’s own title(but still spiritually part of 8HOUSE, I presume)and for just 2.99(which is cheap nowadays for a comic), how can you lose??
Hwei Lim is a Malaysian born artist who is known for her soft, elegant brush work and dynamic colors. She’s been featured in various art shows & galleries around the world. Lim also makes her own comics, including the beloved Boris and Lalage and Our Glorious Deeds.
You can find many of her comics available to read for free, plus much more art, at her website here.

Beautiful artwork! The strange combination of comics style with pastel colors and soft brushes. Amazing!
Wow it’s all like a dream. A very detailed dream. Hwei draws the hair beautifully.
