You know me. Old sourpuss, standing off in the corner. My cynicism precedes me. I bum you out. I know, I know. Well, this is my first post of 2016 for the fine folks at Illustration Age (who have been very, very good to me over the years by the way), so why not post something by a world-renown illustrator and children’s book author whose body of work exudes fun and joy, and a gorgeous color palette? Chris Haughton’s sweet illustrations and graphically perfect constructions exude all these things. Lovely books, toys and activities, hand-made type, work for children’s hospitals, fair-trade products made in Nepal… OK, this guy is too good to be true. I knew my happiness wouldn’t last. Thank you Chris for one brief, shining moment of happiness and light. And a big happy tip of the hat to my good friend and all around good guy Mike Curato for telling me about Chris’ work. Cheers all.
