New Romancer, a new DC/Vertigo series that hit stands last week, is written by one of my all-time favorite writers in comics, Peter Milligan.  The story is about a modern day dating app coder named Lexy who channels her love of the classic romantics, Lord Byron, Giacomo Casanova, etc, in her work.  All hell breaks loose when some of Lexy’s fake online-dating profiles start to seemingly spring to life!

This is going to be a very fun series, but not just because of the clever writing; it’s the excellent animation-style art and emotionally expressive characters by series cover/interior artist Bret Parson that really takes this comic to the next level!

Parson made a big splash, recently, with his work on 21st Century Tank Girl, which appears to be his first major comics work.  He’s created poster art for films, concerts, and he’s done special variant covers, including a new one for Zombie Tramp #15.

Not much is known about the mysterious Mr. Parson other than the fact that he lives in Massachusetts and was quoted as saying, “I live in the country, drink beer, play guitar, watch movies, and draw cartoons.”

For the latest artwork and updates, you can follow Bret Parson on his Blitz Cadet Studios page here.
