This week we have been blessed to have the great Robert Newman as our Guest Editor. More importantly, Bob has been a longstanding friend and colleague to many in the illustration and design industry. If you’ve been inspired by at least one thing he’s shared this week, or if you are among the masses who have been touched by his generosity over the years, please help by participating in or sharing the following information about a benefit auction in his honor.

Robert suffered a serious head injury in the Spring of 2013 that left him in the hospital for three months, followed by a long period of recovery and rehabilitation. His friends and colleagues have organized a series of benefits to help raise funds to cover ongoing medical and living expenses while he continues his recovery. For more information, visit the Friends of Bob Newman fundraising page

Later in May there’s going to be an online benefit auction featuring the work of dozens of top illustrators and photographers, with all proceeds going to benefit his family. In addition, there’s going to be a celebration/benefit gathering at the Society of Illustrators in New York City on May 29. For more information on the auction and benefit, visit the Friends of Bob Newman Tumblr page and also their Facebook page.

The auction is being organized by illustrator Danny Hellman, art directors Jill Armus, Florian Bachleda, and Jesse Marinoff Reyes, and Anelle Miller, the director of the Society of Illustrators, and you’re all invited!

Please share this post or one of the links above to show your support for this week’s Guest Editor Robert Newman.
