“This is a quick piece I did last week with one of my new favorite Art Directors Erich Nagler for the cover of yesterday’s Sunday Styles section in The New York Times. The article was about young creatives moving out of NY due to the high cost of living, and is an interesting read for anyone in a similar situation (myself included). Working on this was a nice change of pace from what I have been doing recently. I have been really trying to make my colors brighter by using vintage comic book palette’s to really make things pop, and I think that this is my first real successful use of such a palette. Working with NYT is always a treat, but especially when the work comes out much much better than you had originally expected it to.”

Very nice piece of art. I love the muted colours and the detail. Well done :)
Fabulous and Inspiring, real art I can get my teeth in to! It drew me in because of my current project ‘Journey’ for my HNC course, Inspiration is everything!
I would like my piece to tell its own story, its coming together, so time I got of this darn PC and did some more drawing!
Thanks for the inspiring drawing Matthew Woodson!
