“The Seed” by Ryan Andrews

I love discovering new talent for Illustration Age. When I do a search in existing posts and a name of a new artist I love does not pop up, I admit I get a little tingly. Ryan Andrews’ new story “The Seed” gave me just such tingles.

The illustrations and the story are wonderfully intertwined, effortlessly moving between a real and fantastic landscape. In the story, a childless couple who give birth to a seed. With echoes of the cult classic Little Otik, the reader is left to wonder up until almost the last page what will happen. Well written, wonderfully illustrated, a must-read.
