NEW, NEW, NEW, NEW, NEW…here at Illustration Age we are always on the lookout for new artists, contemporary takes on things, the latest and greatest artists and picture makers. Well, illustrator and cartoonist Arnold Roth has been at this game for a very long time. His first freelance gig was back in 1951. Hell, Harry Truman was president then. The list of publications Arnold Roth has worked for would take 60 years to list, but here’s a few, The New Yorker, Time, Sports Illustrated, Playboy, Esquire, Punch…same goes for the accolades, Society of Illustrators, National Cartoonists Society, Art Directors Club, Society of Publication Designers… you get the picture, books and lectures, animation and exhibitions, and numerous television appearances. A long and distinguished career to be sure, but the most wonderful thing of all is that Arnold is still churning out great work. John Updike once said of Arnold, “All cartoonists are geniuses, but Arnold Roth is especially so.”
Arnold blogs regularly, posting new cartoons and illustrations. If that’s not enough here’s a short video from a couple of years back on the making of a cover for The Deal Magazine, and a link to his recent 60 year retrospective at the Society of Illustrators. I’m sorry I live 2,858 miles away.
Long story short, respect your elders.

As long as he can still churn it out, why stop? His work is obviously his great joy. Sounds like paradise to me.
Well said Edwina. I hope we all get to live long, healthy and productive lives in paradise.
There’s definitely something appealing about this…
