Frank Chimero is no ordinary designer, illustrator, essayist, blogger, author, lecturer, educator and whatever else he is doing at the moment. Granted, each of us performs some or all of the duties that Frank does in this fast-changing world, a world where we have to juggle multiple personae, a world littered with the corpses of unrealized projects. However, very few of us are able to pull it off with such intelligence. We may try this or that and move on because there isn’t anything in it for us in the long run. We feel like we need to try this and try that out of desperation or the urge to keep up, this Chimero guy seems to take on new challenges out of intellectual or creative curiosity. Master it and move on to the next thing. Frank Chimero doesn’t need my help to sell books, or get a speaking gig halfway around the world. But, as the smart guys are apt to say where I’m from, “not for nothin’ you gotta respect this fucking guy”.
